COMPUTING WITHOUT A COMPUTER
AUDIENCE: KS1 & KS2 teachers
OVERVIEW
Teaching computer science concepts such as algorithms, decomposition and debugging, bitmaps, binary and coding away from the computer.
Help children understand what is actually going inside a computer – it is not magic!
Discover how to turn defunct computer hardware into useful teaching aids.

MULTIMEDIA
AUDIENCE: KS1 & KS2 teachers
OVERVIEW
Through hands on activities you will:
- Learn how to combine text, images, sounds and video to enhance teaching and learning using a variety of apps and programmes
- Create a short animation or a stop motion video
- Explore and evaluate free and chargeable apps and programmes to use in school to create multimedia for teaching and learning

PROGRAMMING AT KS1 & KS2
AUDIENCE: KS1 & KS2 teachers
OVERVIEW
The morning session will look at getting the most from floor robots (beebots etc) and provide a gentle introduction to scratch and other block based programmes.
In the afternoon participants will chose to either experiment with more advanced Scratch programming or explore using micro:bits and Crumbles to develop physical computing.

ONLINE SAFETY & DIGITAL LITERACY
AUDIENCE: Computing/PSHE leads
OVERVIEW
You will:
- Assesses your E-Safeguarding policies, procedures and practices with 360 Safe tool
- Explore ways to teach pupils about fake news and to evaluate websites,
- Understand copyright and plagiarism
- Review Education for a Connected World Framework and discuss how it could be used in your school
- Cyber security – personal data, phising, scams and ransomware
- Online safety resources

COMPUTING & ICT COORDINATORS
AUDIENCE: KS1 & KS2 teachers with responsibility for leading Computing /ICT
OVERVIEW
You will:
- Explore the Computing programme of study KS1 & KS2 to understand key vocabulary, what it means and how to teach it.
- Consider curriculum resources (hardware and software) including what’s good to buy, what is available for free and how to make the most of what you have.
- Consider the difference and overlap between online safety and digital literacy and how these impact on planning.
- Look at planning for progression and how to establish assessment criteria for computing.
- Consider how to further up-skill yourself and other staff members.
